Efficient Removal of Rhodamine B in Wastewater via Activation of Persulfate by MnO2 with Different Morphologies

In recent years, typical organic pollutants were frequently found in aquatic environments. Among them, synthetic dyes widely used many industries, which resulting a large amount of wastewater contained dyes. Because the characteristic complex components, poor biodegradability and high toxicity, this kind brought lots harm to ecological environment organism. study, three different types manganese dioxide (MnO2) with rod-like, needle-like mixed morphologies respectively successfully fabricated by hydrothermal method changing preparation conditions addition metal ions, utilized as activator persulfate (PS) remove aqueous. Subsequently, these MnO2 nanocomposite was characterized X-ray diffraction (XRD) scanning electron microscope (SEM) measurements. addition, Rhodamine B (Rh B), representative substance xanthene chosen target degradants researched compared efficiency removal via PS activated MnO2. By exploring influences reaction parameters on result removal, results indicated that acicular (α-MnO2) can 97.41% Rh over 60 min, optimal catalyst/PS ratio 2:1 (the concentration α-MnO2 1.2 g/L 0.6 g/L, respectively), pH value 3, at temperature 20 °C. Meanwhile, probable degradation mechanism also proposed. At last, catalyst reused for four times, rate decreased less than 10%.
